merry new years and happy christmas

I hope you are enjoying the holiday season! It's been mellow for me..spending a considerable amount of time on the couch. Very much looking forward to flying to Colorado tomorrow where I'll be until NY day. Good friends getting married in the mountains. Skiing is fun. I need a helmet as it is "cool" these days to wear one. It also helps you not injure your head if you fall or crash into something.

As for your mom, I've got nothing new to say about her. As for music..since I've been hanging around so much, I've been able to tap into the archives a bit. Right now I am listening to Foxtrot Zulu's live release. This disc must have come out around 2000 and showcases a great live act doing it. The band played actively from the mid-90's through early-2000 before the realities of life on the road really took hold. The 7 men of FZ have gone on to various careers in all kinds of other careers although they still play out around their native Rhode Island every once in a while.

Otherwise, I recommend picking up the Wood Brothers CD which has now been out probably close to a year. It's delicious. Have a safe and happy new years celebration.

Back in SF / Dave Atthews

What if it was the Dave Atthews Band? Just something to think about. I just received the 12/31/96 DAB show in the mail. It features the band at a fine time in their development. I wouldn't argue that they were better then or now. What I would say is that they were less afriad to take chances back then. I was at the show (their last NYE appearance) and while its a fuzzy evening, I have fond memories overall.

Oh, and Dave just proclaimed himself "a dumbass".

That Dec 2006 tour also introduced me to the Flecktones which, needless to say, I am grateful for..

What else...my friends at KPIG will be releasing KPIG's Greatest Hits Part II, shortly. Excited to hear this one. Part one featured some great Robert Earl Keen, Todd Snider (BEER RUN) and "It's a Great Day to Whup Somebody's Ass".

It's the holidays..go to Itunes and get lost..then buy something on a whim!

NY

I'm in NY..I've been here for almost a week and haven't seen/heard any live music. That is dissapointing to say the least.

That said, I have one more night to do it..let me know if you know of any good music in the city friday night.

Most recent show I saw was Taj Mahal Trio at Yoshi's in Oakland a few weeks ago. Taj is very tall and one of my favorite performers.
